The Best BVI Itinerary for Sailors

In search of the best British Virgin Island to visit during your holiday? There is more than one! We’ve detailed our top spots to visit on a few of our favorite islands so you can create the best BVI itinerary to fit your individual interests and timeframe. where to go and what to see in the BVI

Norman Island: life of the party

While Go Sail’s British Virgin Island itineraries are flexible, one of our favorite spots to sail to first is Norman Island! This gorgeous island features a large natural harbor and mooring at The Bight is a great way to get to meet other sailors in the area. The moorings are all maintained by the Pirates Bight, which is a great spot to grab a bite or even make a massage reservation. Many sailors also like stopping by the William Thorton II ship turned bar, known as Willy T, for a drink. For the extra adventurous, jump naked from the top of the ship and you can win a free Willy T t-shirt!

Cooper Island: top notch diving

Next stop, Cooper Island! If you are not only looking to learn to sail on your BVI vacation but would also like to get in some dive time, we’d argue that Cooper Island is the best British Virgin Island to visit for diving because it’s home to the Wreck of the RMS Rhone. It’s one of the most famous dive sites in the Caribbean and it’s well worth a visit if you know how to dive! Go Sail Virgin Islands would be happy to help you schedule a dive trip to the RMS Rhone while you are on your weeklong learn to sail vacation.

Baths and North Gorda Sound: sailing paradise

The trip to Baths and the North Gorda Sound is a perfect time to just focus on sailing. This area offers gorgeous calm waters sheltered from the open sea and stunning granite boulders along the shoreline. With the boats’ engines turned off and the breeze in your hair, this is the day you’ll really find yourself in love with the beauty of sailing in the Caribbean.

Anegada: serene snorkeling

After sailing your way to Anegada, you’ll be welcomed by some of the best snorkeling the BVI has to offer! Part of what makes Anegada one of the best British Virgin Islands to visit for snorkeling is that it’s so secluded. It’s the second-largest island in the BVI but the least populated. That means there are plenty of wonderful spots to view coral formations without running into any other tourists. Horseshoe Reef is one of the largest barrier coral reefs in the Caribbean so this may be a spot you’ll want to stop by!

Jost Van Dyke: Caribbean cuisine

At Go Sail Virgin Islands, we love to take our students to Jost Van Dyke to get a real feel for the mouthwatering Caribbean cuisine. The roti, jerk chicken, and island-style BBQ you’ll find on Jost Van Dyke are hard to beat, making this the best British Virgin Island to visit for culinary excellence!. Jost Van Dyke’s Soggy Dollar Bar is also famous for inventing the Painkiller cocktail. While your captain may have already mixed you up one on your learn to sail vacation, you’ll want to check out the original for yourself!
