What’s the best food to try in the US Virgin Islands? Well on June 8, it’s wings! The King of the Wing Festival is the perfect opportunity to eat your heart out and celebrate USVI culinary excellence with tourists and locals alike.
What is the King of the Wing Festival?
The King of the Wing Festival is a yearly competition to find the most delicious chicken wings in the US Virgin Islands! Last year, the festival boasted over 45 teams competing for the title of best wings and raised over $120,000 for a local non-profit. Attendees are invited to try as many wings as they’d like from the various competitors and enjoy a full day of food, music, and fun. 
When and where is the King of the Wing Festival?
The King of the Wing Festival is at Magen’s Bay on St Thomas Island in the US Virgin Islands. The fun begins at 11am on June 8 and the party ends at 5pm. However, if you charter a sailboat with Go Sail Virgin Islands to catch the fun, you can keep the party going after 5pm with your sailing buddies on your sailboat!
Is the King of the Wing Festival free?
The entry to King of the Wing Festival is free, however, tasting those delicious wings isn’t! You can sample wings for between $2.50 and $2 a pop, depending on how many tickets you buy (one ticket gets you one chicken wing). Drinks are also available for $3-$6. Keep in mind that the more tickets you buy, the more you are helping the Nana Baby Children’s Home. All the proceeds of the King of the Wing Festival go to this non-profit that provides a place for children during times of crisis.
Can I visit the King of the Wing Festival during my sailing vacation?

Who does Go Sail Virgin Islands think has the best wings in the US Virgin Islands?
The King of the Wing Festival crowns winners in two different categories for best wings– non-restaurant and restaurant division. Last year, St John Brewers won first place for their wings. However, the staff at Go Sail Virgin Islands all have different opinions on who has the best wings around. When you set sail, make sure to ask your captain to bring you to their favorite wing spot as part of your sailing vacation!
